Beacon Point House

Modernist House

Under construction

Location: Wanaka

Architectural Designer: Johnston Architects

Designed to accommodate a young family this spacious residence has deliberately been integrated into the stunning Wanaka landscape by spreading horizontally across the site, but also by burrowing down in to the terrain to create a connected 'bunker' studio and guest suite.

The light and airy living pavilion is encapsulated between large expanses of glazing that open out to the views beyond the site, but also within, to a private courtyard, pool and alfresco dining area sheltered within the heart of the home. To provide a comfortable internal environment the house incorporates a high performance warm roof that far exceeds typical roof insulation, whilst retaining a thin and aesthetically pleasing construction build-up. Likewise the floor slab is highly insulated and includes a hydronic underfloor heating system, providing cosy warmth underfoot and year round thermal comfort.

Quality materials, refined details and novel construction techniques allow the Archi Build team to showcase their exemplary skill set in this new home.

Golf Course Residence

Under construction

Location: Wanaka

Architectural Designer: Johnston Architects

Located on an elevated site above Wanaka Golf Course, this new residence frames commanding views of the Wanaka basin and surrounding mountains through its exposed steel structure and large expanses of floor to ceiling glazing.

Almost entirely clad in weathering steel the handsome proportions of the home will patina and age gracefully over time, blending its warm rust tones and deep pools of shadow seamlessly with the landscape's natural palette of colours. Board marked concrete fireplaces, walls, glazing and landscape elements enhance the home's sense of permanence and help ground the structure within the site.

To ensure a healthy indoor environment the home incorporates the latest construction technologies including high performance roof, wall and slab insulation systems to moderate the extremes of Wanaka's climate, providing a warm and cosy environment during winter, and a cool and comfortable retreat during summer.

Archi Build's experience executing refined details and working within tight construction tolerances is already evident in the home which is currently nearing completion.

Beacon Residence

Under construction

Location: Wanaka

Architectural Designer: Johnston Architects

Designed to sit comfortably in the landscape, the elegant low slung volumes of this new residence are capped with a faceted and sculptural roof that floats delicately over the main living volume.

The floating roof element allows natural daylight to permeate the interior of the home during the day creating a unique sense of space, volume and light. As suggested by the project's name, gentle uplighting is intended to heighten this floating effect at night, creating a beacon of light and sense of interest and visual drama when viewed from the streetscape.

Clad in local stone, the home's external walls present a sense of solidity that encapsulates the bedrooms and private spaces. Selected for its low maintenance requirements the stone will weather and age gracefully over time. Large triple glazed sliding doors provide seamless connections to the outdoor terraces and landscaped site. A sheltered and private courtyard located at the heart of the home is covered with an operable and retractable louvre roof allowing for alfresco dining and entertaining year round.

Archibuild were selected to construct this project based on their proven track record and ability to deliver new homes that incorporate high performance construction systems and the highest levels of build quality.
